FAQ – Newborn Sessions

What is the best time for me to book a newborn session?

  • The best time to book a newborn baby photo session is early in your pregnancy. Your session will be reserved based on your tentative due date. When the baby arrives, we will set a firm date for the following week.

When is the best time to perform the newborn session?

  • The best time to photograph a newborn baby is when the baby is 5 to 10 days old

Where will the session be held?

  • Depending on the session you choose, your newborn session can be held at our studio in Leander or in your home. The studio has a beautiful natural light family room and beautiful dresses for mom to choose from.

What can I expect during the session?

  • Newborn sessions last around 3 hours and are tailored around the needs of the baby.  This allows for cuddling and feeding as needed. First, we focus on family photos capturing mom, dad and siblings with the new addition. Then we focus on baby. The baby will be posed on blankets with wraps, hats and headbands as well as in a couple of props.  All poses are comfortable for baby and highlight their unique features and tiny hands and feet. I have a large variety of textures, outfits, headbands, hats, wraps and props that all compliment my natural, organic style of newborn photography.
  • Safety is especially important to me.  I make sure the baby is safe and comfortable the entire session.  I always have an assistant with me to keep the baby safe and supported throughout the session.  My assistant and I have extensive and ongoing training specifically with newborns to be sure they are handled and posed safely. My desire is that you rest and enjoy your baby during this time.

What to expect after the session?

  • One to two weeks after the session you will meet with our art designer and see a beautiful slideshow of your images. She will help you choose your favorite images to make beautiful works of art for your home.

Can I just buy the digital images?

  • Time and time again I have families that tell me how happy they are that they have beautiful products to remember this special time. You will be walked through the whole process. Most digital files never get printed or enjoyed. We feel like we serve our families best to provide wall art and albums that will be enjoyed by your family for years and years to come. {With each print ordered, you will receive the corresponding digital file}
